Cross House, being the earliest surviving house built on The Green is widely regarded as the oldest continuously occupied house in the town. It stands as an important reminder of Wallsend’s origins as a medieval village, reflecting the educational, religious and social history of the community across more than two centuries that have spanned monumental changes in society.
